It also works very poorly with weakauras, and you can affect your other characters UI designs if you aren't careful when setting up a different character.īut, its still better than retail UI. So I need to format both those bars and place them where they are supposed to go. A bar that usually sits in the right side wall be default is now my 2nd bar. My Shift-1 spell bar is on the bottom of the page. Im still using it but I found that every character I log in needs heavy formatting because things look dumb or bars are in the wrong place. It just doesnt seem to work as well as it used to. In between breaks in play by years I would always go back to it. At least, thats my understanding of it, someone who uses it could probably explain better. it's a slimmed down version of elvui where you can basically cherry pick what features of elvui you want/don't want. Something about it just feels, I don't know, "too much". I try and try to like elvui every so often-i switch to it exclusively for about a week each time and always end up going back. I prefer to use the 10 or so addons that gives me unit frames, ui enhancements, etc. Elv is a package that tries to do it all and to me at least, feels very bloated. With a few addons and not a complete rewrite of your ui and configuration files you can achieve a very good interface. I suppose I should've said that elv is just way too much for most people. That's missing like a million features extra. Just get dragonhider and the move everything addon + plater and go to town. Joy joy all the addon's that will break today lol 1/2 the day will be spent just updating addons' Comment by Lokosi on T11:26:55-05:00Įlv is ^&*! tbh. To each their own though, just that has been my experience in that regard. I know a few friends I've tried to help get into the game, but then someone tells them like, "oh download ElvUI and WeakAuras and Details and." and then they get overwhelmed and end up quitting before they really even play the game. Returning players its probably okay unless they took a very long (1-2+ expansions) break. Addons help but the game is playable perfectly fine with little to no addons. I'd focus on learning the game first, then get the UI built. Plus I've had issues where my ElvUI will just break on me, especially during new patches and such, which just end up adding to the frustration, and I revert back to default because it can't break if there's no extra things to break.Īlso personally, I wouldn't ever recommend a new player get ElvUI, at least not straight away. I think ElvUI is an amazing addon and there are a lot of possibilities with it, but it just detracts from the style of WoW way too much for me (for example, even though I only spend maybe a few seconds on the login/character select/loading screens, it looks weird to go from that to the cleaner sharper borders and textures of ElvUI and I just end up disliking the drastic style differences).

trade windows are not all skinned for some reason) or an add on like WeakAuras doesn't have an ElvUI-esque skin and it just breaks the visuals in my mind and I end up reverting back to the default UI with some extras like Leatrix Plus or Move Anything.

Every time I get ElvUI and make a really nice looking UI, I'm satisfied for all of about a week, then something happens be it a series of errors causing problems, or some part of the Blizz UI didn't get skinned to match ElvUI (ex. Most of the time its okay because you can use things like Masque to skin other stuff to match, but its not all inclusive. You just cant move on Comment by StardustNova on T11:14:36-05:00Īs nice as ElvUI is, my biggest gripe with it has always just been the overall style of it. Comment by Mcitra on T11:11:00-05:00Īnd here i am using tukui with tukui extensions no one wants to update.īut you guys know when you find that addon or ui that works for you.

Or you can just manually install them into your Interface>Addons folder. You can use the Tukui client to keep ElvUI updated.

How easy/difficult is it to update ElvUI with the new pre-patch? Will I need to re-do all of my settings or will they still be saved?Īddon updates don't generally mess with your settings.
